Near Shiraz, the cultural and heritage capital of Iran's ancient history, the industrial wheels are rotating, and with its construction, the foundation stone of petrochemicals in Iran was laid.

Shiraz Petrochemical Company was founded with an initial investment of about 400 million US dollars in 1959, in 692-hectare land out of which 202 hectare is dedicated to infrastructures.

It was established with the aim of producing 250 tons of fertilizer needed by the country, and now it is one of the most important petrochemical companies in the country with the production of 3300,000 tons of petrochemical products.

The major feed stock for the operating plants are natural gas, limestone and salt. The natural gas source is from the main cross-country pipeline, while the limestone and salt are extracted from the adjacent mines. Water needed for process as well as utilities purposes is routed from the nearby dam.

The training department has rendered courses in electronics, computer, mechanics, electrical fundamentals, English, and many other fields. It is worthy to mention that many plant managers in NPC subsidiaries obtained their valuable experiences in this company.

The management and personnel efforts have brought about establishment of quality management certificate ISO 9001, environmental management system ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and IMS (Integrated Management System) for the company.
